Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed: Jim Goetz

by Scott Edward Walker on August 29th, 2012

To Our Clients & Friends: Welcome to our weekly series “Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed.”  Each week, we share a favorite video of a successful entrepreneur, investor or business leader on a variety of topics.  This week, we present Jim Goetz, a partner at Sequoia Capital and a smart, impressive investor.

In this solid, 25-minute clip followed by Q&A (courtesy of the Startup School), Jim initially discusses some of Sequoia’s successful investments and the respective founders and their struggles.  The overriding takeaway is inspirational: “The spectacular companies start with people like yourself.” He then discusses the importance of a “unique and compelling” idea; and closes with an interesting discussion about timing.  I hope you enjoy it.  Cheers, Scott
