More Words of Wisdom from Marc Andreessen

by Scott Edward Walker on February 23rd, 2017

To Our Clients & Friends: Welcome to our weekly series “Helping Entrepreneurs Succeed.”  Each week, we share a favorite video clip of a successful entrepreneur, investor or business leader on a variety of topics.  This week, we again present Marc Andreessen, a brilliant entrepreneur and co-founder and general partner of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

In this solid presentation (via the Stanford Graduate School of Business), Mark discusses what he and his partners look for in founders, including the following:

  • “The two things we really zero-in on in [founders] are… courage and genius.” (at 0.44)
  • “We’re looking for some kind of magic combination of genius and courage.” (at 1:16)
  • “It’s will to power; it’s people who simply will not stop.” (at 1:25)
  • “We think failure sucks.” (at 1:50)
  • “We are strongly biased to [founders] who are so determined to succeed that they never give-up – they never quit.” (at 2:08)

I hope you enjoy it.  Cheers, Scott
